remation is the process of heat and flames reducing the body
down to bone matter. The bones are removed from the retort and
placed into a processor that will reduce them to small particles.
These particles are what we refer to as "cremains", not "ashes",
because the term "ashes" is misleading. After the bones have been
processed, they are placed in a temporary urn or an urn that the
family has selected for burial, entombment, scattering or keeping.
There are regulations pertaining to the scattering of cremains in
certain areas and our staff can advise you on them.
In 1996, Williams Funeral Home established an on site
crematory as part of the full funeral services we offer. Before this
was done, the nearest places for cremation was either in Nashville,
TN. or Huntsville, AL. Both are over an hour away. Now, Williams
Funeral Home has the complete facility to do cremation procedures
for the families we serve, along with offering this service to other area
funeral homes.
Cremation services offered by Williams Funeral Home:
1. Direct Cremation: This is a cremation without any viewing or funeral service.
2. Cremation with Memorial Service: This is a cremation with a funeral service without the body being present for viewing. This can be held at the funeral home, church or family home. The urn may or may not be present during this service.
3. Cremation with Viewing: This is a cremation with the body present for the family and friends to have a final goodbye.
4. Cremation with Funeral service: This is a cremation with a visitation and full funeral service with the body being cremated afterwards. This service is usually conducted at either the funeral home or the church.
We believe that when you compare our reputation, combined
with service and our facilities, you will find that we offer peace of mind
with quality and excellent value.
