Alta Mae Reed Thomason

Mrs. Alta Mae Reed Thomason, age 82, resident of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, July 27, at Williamson Medical Center.

Alta Mae was born August 17, 1934, in Maury County, the daughter of the late John Reed and Opal Taylor Reed. She was the wife of the late Ernest N. Thomason, who preceded her in death on October 4, 2002. She began her career as an LPN at King’s Daughters Hospital then worked over 43 years at Maury Regional Medical Center, first as an LPN and the last 14 years as a Supervisor in Central Supply. Alta Mae was a member of the Collegevue Church of Christ.

Survivors include one sister, Rebecca Irene (John) Wright of Monroe, OH and two brothers, Harold (Betty) Reed and Raymond (Shelia) Reed, both of Columbia, along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two of her brothers, John Robert Reed and Paul W. Reed.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM also at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Reed, James Reed, David Reed, Ben Sagrera, Josh Harvey and Carl Wayne Reed.

Honorary pallbearers will be retirees of Maury Regional Hospital, nieces and nephews, and the members of Collegevue Church of Christ.
