Carol West Hernet, age 62, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Carol was born on July 20, 1952 to the late William C. West, Jr. and Barbara Trice West in Victorville, California at George Air Force Base. Carol moved to Florida in high school and lived there until 2010. Carol graduated from Pompano Beach High School and the University of Miami, where she met her husband Steve and received a Bachelor of Education Degree. She was a true educator teaching primarily preschool and kindergarten both full-time and part-time for thirty-three years for the School Board of Broward County, FL. Carol loved to travel, from the Bahamas to Europe to roaming the country in their RV, it did not matter to her. She lived in England for one year in middle school and also attended college there for a summer course. In her younger years, Carol enjoyed surfing. She loved going to see Cher in concert with her sister and would travel all over the nation to see her. Carol enjoyed the company of her granddaughter and family pets Rosie and Dasiy. Carol and her husband, Steven M. Hernet retired from Lighthouse Pt., FL to Culleoka, Tennessee.
Carol is survived by her husband of 39 years, Steven M. Hernet of Culleoka; daughter Christin (David) H. Morrison of Columbia; granddaughter Kirstin Ann Morrison of Columbia; sister Penny West Eckhardt of Naples, Florida; nephews Sean Eckhardt of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Trent Eckhardt of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Corey McCormack of Morristown, New Jersey, Casey McCormack of Cape Coral, Florida; niece Brittany McCormack of Cape Coral, Florida; mother-in-law Barbara A. Hernet of Morristown, New Jersey; and sisters-in-laws Corinne Hernet of Morristown, New Jersey and Susan (Brian) H. McCormack of Cape Coral, Florida.
Carol was a survivor of Breast Cancer for thirteen years.
