Dorothy May Sanders

Mrs. Dorothy May Sanders, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born on December 15, 1929 in Obion County, Tennessee to Robert Miles Cavender and Minnie Hazel Johnson Cavender. She was a dedicated wife and mother making a wonderful Christian home for her husband, James E. Sanders, Sr., whom she married on July 5, 1948. They shared loving companionship until his passing in 2004. She was a member of Collegevue Church of Christ.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by her children: Jim Sanders of Columbia, Debra Tanner of Pleasantville, TN and Bobby Sanders of Kalamazoo, MI; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister: Margaret Laws of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia on Saturday, September 24 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Friday, September 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Travis Tanner, Daniel Sanders, Cole Sanders, Logan Sanders, Thomas Edwards, Bill Johnson and Wayne Fuller will serve as pallbearers.
