Elsie Christine Simmons

Elsie Christine Matlock Simmons, age 89, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at NHC Columbia following an extended illness.

Elsie was born on February 27, 1926 to Louis Matlock and Lena Pearl Matlock in Maury County, Tennessee. She married John Thomas Simmons on August 26, 1944 and they were happy together until he passed away in December of 1965. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her family recalls that she spent her life taking care of her family and others.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by her niece: Susan Dale of Mt. Pleasant; nephew: Jim and Lynn Underwood of Mt. Pleasant; great-niece: Becky Dale; great-nephew: Matt Dale; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Simmons will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Wendell Spears officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. immediately prior to the service.

Bill Walters, Don Williams, Steve Riddle, Josh Woody and Thomas Edwards will serve as honorary pallbearers.
