Elvira Marie Waldrop

Elvira “Marie” Pharr Guthrie Waldrop, age 76, passed away at her home in Mt. Pleasant, TN May 19, 2016.
Marie was born August 8, 1939 in Jasper, AL to the late Thomas I. Pharr and the late Cleara McDow. Marie worked for many years as the manager at Jack’s Restaurant as well as Kitchen Manager at Western Sizzlin. Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved spending time with her family. She could often be found tending her flowers, or trying a recipe from her cookbooks. She also enjoyed reading and studying her Bible. She loved her Lord and her church family. Marie will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
Marie is survived by her daughters: Sheila Hickman and Frances “Kay” (David) Lott; son: Thomas “Michael” (Kathy) Guthrie; granddaughters: Rebecca (Brandon) Burleson, Beth Lott, Melisha (Michael) Woodard, and Candace Guthrie; grandsons: Jeremy (Stacie) Finley, Curtis Guthrie, and Rory (Carrie) Guthrie; 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren; and her best friend Trixie.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Thomas and Cleara Pharr; husband: Jessie W. Waldrop; sisters: Ruby Cobb and Marion Bowers; brothers: Lester & Vester Pharr; son: Paul Raymond “Ray” Guthrie.
The family will visit with friends Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Services will be held Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. also at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Andy Pogue officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Rory Guthrie, Curtis Guthrie, Jeremy Finley, Tevin Guthrie, Peyton Finley, Ben Burleson, Brett Burleson
Honorary Pallbearers are Thomas Roberts, Keifer Roberts, Micheal Casey Woodard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family in honor of Marie.
