Staff Sgt. James “Jim” Warren Cunningham (U. S. Army, Retired) age 73, of the Culleoka community, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Jim was born on February 19, 1945, in Anderson, Indiana, to the late James and Dortha Clevenger Cunningham. He was married for fifty-two years to Enriqueta Gonzalez Cunningham. He served honorably in the U. S. Army and retired from service having attained the rank of Staff Sgt. E6. He was a retiree from General Motors, having worked as an Op-Tech at Saturn. Previously, he worked at Guide Lamp in Anderson, Indiana. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Big heart, generous to a fault – those are what he will be remembered most for.
Jim is survived by his loving wife: Enriqueta Cunningham of Culleoka; son: Evelio Cunningham of Texas; daughter: Beverly (Russell) Robertson of Indiana; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister: Cora (Robert) Nickerson of Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special cousin: Karen K. (Jim) Johnson of Washington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: James F. Cunningham and James J. Cunningham and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Jim will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 2:00pm at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Tim Cunningham and Terry Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the U. S. Army. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm as well as Sunday, from 12:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the Funeral Service.
Dusty Robertson, Ian Pidduck, Johnny Nickerson, Toby Eldridge, Seth Cunningham, Kenneth Purvis, Deveyn Robertson, Evelio Cunningham, James Cunningham and Billy Nickerson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be past and current members of St. Catherine Catholic Church.
