James "Jimmy" Maurice Elliott

James “Jimmy” Maurice Elliott, age 79, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at his residence.

Jimmy was born on December 4, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Kenneth J. Elliott and Florence Bear Elliott. Jimmy married Betty Sue and the two shared fifty-one years together until her passing on May 10, 2012. Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 – 1956 and the United States Air Force from 1957 – 1973. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring from the Air Force on December 1, 1973 with the following medals: Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He also worked for Triangle Auto Springs in Columbia, Tennessee. Jimmy was a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. He was an independent and strong willed individual. Jimmy loved his hummingbirds and yard work, especially mowing his yard.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

Jimmy is survived by his son Timmy Elliott of Hownwald; daughters Debbie (Garry) Lee of Mt. Pleasant, Connie (Tom) Pierce of Summertown, and Karen (Daniel) Cupples of Columbia; grandchildren Jennifer Elliott, Jessica Elliott, Tonya (Bubba) Bolton, Hunter Bolton who he loved dearly as he did all his grandchildren, Wayne Bowen, Justin (Christy) Bowen, Angela Williams, Heaven Pierce, and Tom Pierce; seven great grandchildren; brothers Roy Elliott and Pat Elliott; sisters Betty (Mark) Goodnow and Carol Elliott; and his sidekick Angel.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Sue Elliott; parents Kenneth and Florence Elliott; brothers Harold, Billy, Donnie, and Kenny Elliott; and sister Barbara Davis.

The family would like to thank Maury Regional Cancer Center and special friend Bobby Joe Davis.
