John Earl Chapel

John Earl Chapel, age 76 of Columbia, Tennessee, went “Home to Rest” on Wednesday, April 8, 2015.
John is at peace and resting now after a few years of medical issues. His close friends and family were blessed to have been given the opportunity to spend Easter with him, which was an amazing gift. They will miss him greatly, and cherish their memories of his warm heart. God has now gained an amazing soul in heaven.
John was born on August 31, 1938 to the late Herman A. Chapel and the late Helen M. Farley Chapel in Marion, Indiana. John was married to Geraldine Thomas on April 4, 1959, and had just celebrated fifty-six wonderful years together. John worked as a quality control engineer for Dana Corporation in Marion, Indiana, then in Gordonsville, Tennessee before retiring to seek out other endeavors. He was of the Methodist Faith.
John is survived by his wife Gerry Chapel of Columbia, Tennessee; son John R. (Sherrin) Chapel of Swayzee, Indiana; daughter Brenda D. (David) Smith in Columbia, Tennessee; granddaughter Lyndsay N. Hogan of Nashville, Tennessee; step-grandchildren Will Smith, Jamie Ramirez, Sarah (Clint) Pearce, and Jessica (Blake) Wright; and great-grandchildren Jeffrey Pearce, Mason Pearce, Hannah Wright, and McKenzie Wright.
At his request, there will be no formal services held, but Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.williamsfh.com .
