Joy Carol Lancaster, age 56, passed away Wednesday July 30, 2014 at her residence in Mt. Pleasant, TN. She was born June 21, 1958 in Columbia, TN to the late James Higginbotham and the late Carolyn Grissom.
Joy identified herself as a hippie. She was known on Facebook as “Groovy Granny.” A child at heart, she loved the classical 60’s and 70’s rock music. Her mottos were “Give Peace a Chance” and “Let it Be.”
The family will have a celebration of life for Joy on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Maury County Park at the Jaycee Shelter next to Jared's Dream Playground. The family request that no one wear black, but rather tie-dye or vibrant colors to celebrate Joy's life. Please bring a covered dish, lots of memories, and any pictures to share.
Joy is survived by her husband: Billy Ray “Rat” Lancaster; two daughters: Tabitha Gidcomb and Sheena Sullivan; son: Buddy Gidcomb; granddaughters: Star, Andrea, Erica and Melody; grandsons: Ian and Shawn; and expecting 2 more grandchildren.
