Mary Louise Neeley Martin

Mrs. Mary Louise “Pete” Martin, age 69, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Mary was born on November 20, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to James Harry “Buddy” Dodson and Sarah Ann Thompson Dodson. Mary was the wife of David Martin. She had a heart of gold and an infectious smile. She was generous to a fault, always had an open door and a cup of coffee for anyone who wanted to stop by. She also persevered during hard times no matter what strife befell her.

Mary was a well-known and respected realtor, who very much enjoyed decorating, remodeling, and moving. She had a vision for many small business including, The Pink Porch. She loved traveling and “shining” in the sun. Her love for the sun led to her love of the water, river, and beach. Until her later years, she was an excellent slalom skier. She enjoyed traveling every chance she got. She was a very loving person who couldn’t walk by you without giving you a hug. Caretaking was one of her gifts and she did so for anyone who needed her, but especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. She was the most forgiving person her family knew and had a heart full of love. She also enjoyed her dogs Bengi and Ozzy.

Mary is survived by her husband: David Martin; children: Tammi (Tommy) Neeley McCall, Zackeraih Martin, Tabitha Martin, Yael Martin-Holtz, Beriah Martin and Elhannan Martin; grandchildren: Christopher “Chris” Neeley, Chase Neeley, Cody Haywood, Kelley McCall, Neeley McCall, Will McCall, Hailey Martin, Chloe Baker, Nehemiah Holtz, Chen Holtz and Liana Pendergrass; siblings: J. H. (Myrtle) Dodson, Debbie Dodson, Danny “Bill” (Stacey) Dodson, Sara Hubbard (Donnie) Underwood and Darlene Mallott; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Buddy and Sarah Dodson; and children: Jamie Neeley and Todd Neeley; and father of her children: William “Butch” Neeley.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.

Chris Neeley, Chase Neeley, Will McCall, Cody Haywood, Neeley McCall, Derek Pugh, Levi Pugh, Buddy Dodson, Jake Mallott, and Benny Patterson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are all Mary’s realtor friends and The Pink Porch Family.
