Rosie L. Kennedy

Rosie L. Clark Kennedy, age 77, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at NHC Columbia.

Rosie was born May 21, 1939, in Columbia, the daughter of the late Velton Clark and Myrtle Pruitt Clark. On September 20, 1960, she married Henry E. Kennedy, Jr., and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2013. Rosie was a homemaker and a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Her hobbies included reading and watching Gunsmoke and Bonanza. She was the sweetest, most loving person her children knew and by that she had achieved her life’s goal – to be remembered as loving. Whenever her children cried, she cried. She felt their pain. Rosie loved all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. No one could replicate her cornbread and dressing.

Survivors include her children, Shelia (Robert) Geery of Dickson, Sandra Kennedy House of Mt. Pleasant, Charles Kennedy of Giles County and Sarah Kennedy (Nelson) Mealer of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Joshua and Jessica, Stephanie and Cynthia, Angel, Kimberly, John, Justin and Jennifer and Curtis, Mary, Dwayne and James; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Summer, Hunter, Erica, Tyler, Davian, Jonathan, Joshua, Emily, Cheyenne, Remington, Paisley and Laklyn; her siblings, Velma McGaw and Dorothy (Marion) Wilhoite. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Pearlene Clark and Paul Clark.

Funeral services for Rosie will be conducted Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Nathan Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
