Ruby Marie Bobo

Ruby Marie Bobo, age 84, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at her residence.

Ruby was born March 4, 1929 to the late Alvin James Butler and the late Clara Mae Prince Butler in Lawrence County. She was the wife of the late Sherman Bobo, Sr. whom she married on December 18, 1944. Mrs. Bobo worked as a seamstress at several different sewing factories, but her most important job was being a homemaker. She was a member of Cross Bridges Baptist Church.

She loved playing canasta, listening to gospel music and sewing. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and she also loved her dogs, “Baby Girl” and “Jake”.

Mrs. Bobo is survived by her children: Sherman Lee Bobo, Jr., Bobby Ray (Teresa A.) Bobo, Linda Fay Bobo (Bill) Greggs, Larry Gene (Teresa F.) Bobo, Martha Ann Bobo (Bob) Foster, Charles David Bobo and Anita Bobo; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings: Johnny Warren Butler, Razzie Lee “Roxie” (Charlie) Oxsher, Eva Nadine (Jack) Kubalak, Carolyn Imogene (Lee) Hill and Mary Lurline (William) Smotherman; sisters-in-law: Dot Griffy and Joyce Hutton. In addition to her parents and husband Ruby is prededed in death by her grandson: Jonathan David Bobo; siblings: Charles Butler and Ruthie Ervin; and sister-in-law: Remona Butler.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bobo will be held on Thursday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Ricky Cotton and Bro. Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday, May 29 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Ronald Greggs, Raymond Greggs, Tyler Bobo, Nicholas Bobo, Michael Bobo, Mike Cothran and Bob Foster, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Pete Frierson, Dr. Rhinehart and Dr. Jameson will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to extend special thanks to Caris Hospice group including:: Brenda Malugin, Pam Holland, Brenda Vogel and nurses on 3rd Floor West Wing at Maury Regional Hospital.
