Stephen Paul Benson, age 61, of Hohenwald, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 at his residence.
Stephen was born in Granite City, Illinois to the late Aaron Stephen Benson and Janet Schnurer Benson on August 9, 1953. Stephen served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Later in life Stephen worked in marine construction in Florida. He enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica. He especially enjoyed Blues and Rock ‘n Roll.
Stephen is survived by his loving fiancée Mary Lay of Hohenwald, Tennessee; son Aaron Wade Benson of Stuart, Florida; daughter Melissa (Jake) Benson-Rice of North Carolina; grandson Aaron Wade Benson Jr. of Stuart, Florida; step-grandson Jakey Rice of North Carolina; and sisters: Lisa, Dawn, Sheryl, and Sandy.
He will be greatly missed by his most loyal and best friend “Toby.”
A private memorial service to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held at a later date.
