Violette Marie Duchene Melvin

Violette Marie Duchene Melvin, 85, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital.
"Vi" was born in Dayton, Ohio and grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She graduated from Chattanooga High School and handled administrative responsibilities in her husband's chiropractic practice. Mrs. Melvin was a member of the United Methodist Church. As requested, her remains were cremated.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dr. William Miles Melvin and her parents, Cecilia and David Hunter, and her brother Leroy Duchene.
Mrs. Melvin is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Janet Davis (Ricky) of Atwood, TN; Mrs. Jean Kirchner (Rudy) of Southside, AL and a son, William M. Melvin, Jr. (Pam) of Huntsville, AL; eight grandchildren also survive, Julie Vaden Smith (Jeff), Jason Vaden, Jona Vaden, Rudy Kirchner III, Megan Kirchner Jett (Jonathan), William Melvin III, Holly Melvin and Maria Melvin; Three great-grandchildren, Ethan Smith, Lucas Jett and Sommer Jett; She is also survived by her brother William Duchene, Hixson, TN.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank, 331 Great Circle Road, Nashville, TN 37228.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Williams Funeral in Columbia will be in charge of the arrangements.
