Athaleen Marie Cox

Athaleen Marie Cox, age 94, passed away July 2, 2022, in Columbia, Tennessee.
Athaleen was born March 23, 1928, to the late John Francis Beard and Iva Dell Adkison Beard in Maury County, Tennessee.
She is survived by her brother: Wayne (Jo Ann) Beard; sister: Katherine Beard; grandson: Bobby Cox; granddaughter: Samantha (Matthew) Howington; and great-grandson: Oliver; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Clifton Cox, Sr.; and her son and his wife: Marvin Clifton Cox, Jr. and Sherry Cox; and many siblings.
She wasn’t just a wonderful grandmother to her own grandkids but to all children that she came smiling her way. Any time someone walked into her home, you can count on being handed a Moon Pie and a Pepsi as a gesture of love. Her love language was spoken through the food she cooked, especially her sweet treats. Anywhere she went, she probably had a pie in hand to take to someone who needed a little sugar. She was loved and admired by all and will be deeply missed.
Her family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 8, 2022, at 1:00 PM. To follow, Ms. Athaleen will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery.
