Carl Lavaughan Greene, age 65, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Carl was born October 20, 1954 in Columbia, Tennessee to the late Joseph Jones and Bessie Greene.
Carl was the kind of person that always worked hard. He worked hard for his family and because he enjoyed doing things right. He worked hard and he played hard you can ask his family or Joe Nance about the number of vehicles he went through, most of which were Chevy Cobalt Blue, chief among all of them was his 1964’ Cobalt Blue Chevy. When he wasn’t going too fast Carl would slow down by going fishing or hunting, anything to be outdoors, or he might find carpentry work to enjoy, even when relaxing would find work to be done. Most of all Carl was a kind and loving man. He cared greatly for others never knowing a stranger; he was the kind of man that would give the shirt off of his back and last dollar in his pocket. His family though was his great love of all and he did everything for them. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, Great Uncle, brother, and friend. Carl is loved and will be deeply missed. “If you drive by and miss me in my rocker on my porch, just know I’m in a better rocker on a better porch.”
Carl is survived by his wife Valerie Brooks of Columbia; children: Tony Devin Morris of Pulaski, TN, Leighanna Odessa Anderson (Norman) of Columbia, and Tyler Jordon Greene of Manchester, TN; grandchildren: Ombreyah Daly, Tony Devin Morris II, and Kaire Anna Anderson; Aunt and surrogate mother: Carrie Jean Jones; Sister: Jacqueline Grandberry (Larry); Aunts and Uncles: Doris Sanderferd (Samuel) of Nashville, TN, Ollie Webster (Barbara) of Louisville, KY, Jean Webster of Louisville, KY, Marshall Brooks (Lisa), Jennifer Brooks, Priscilla Brooks, Levon Brooks and Cornelia Armstrong of Cincinnati, OH; sis-in-law: Velma Regina Johnson; loving cousin and sister: Teresa Diane Fleming (Harry); and loving great niece: Tionna Davis.
The family will gather for a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Harry Fleming officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Richard Smith, Reggie Brown, James Carothers, Kerry Kinzer, and Carl’s friends and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Price Whitaker and the staff of Tennessee Aluminum.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Maury Regional Cancer Center, Doctors, 5th Floor ICU, and Dr. Dana Chandler for their excellent and compassionate care.
