Christine Orban

March 3, 1930 — April 28, 2020

Christine Orban, age 90, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at her home.
A private, immediate family only graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
Born in Maury County and raised in Screamer, she was the daughter of James Buford Henson and Vivian McMillion Henson.
Christine attended the elementary grades at Enterprise School, then graduated from Hay Long High School in 1949. Upon graduating she moved to Nashville, TN to attend the Nashville Business College.
After testing and qualifying, Christine moved to Washington, D.C. for a position with the Navy War Department, becoming a later addition to the war time “Government Girls”.
She met and married her husband of 65 years, John F. Orban, Jr., while he was stationed at Fort Myers with the U.S. Army.
The couple later moved to his hometown of Bethlehem, PA. After rejoining military service with the U.S. Navy, Christine became a “Navy wife” traveling around the U.S., establishing a home in each new station for 27 years. After retiring in 1985, they returned to Mt. Pleasant.
Christine was a lifelong supporting participant of the Boy Scouts of America. After retiring, she became active in supporting DAV and the American Legion.
Christine is survived by her children, Mary Vivian Moore (Stanley), David Orban and Kenneth Orban (Deborah) and grand children Benjamin Orban and Bethany Orban and a multitude of nieces and nephews and their families across the U.S.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Orban, Jr., her granddaughter Beverly Orban; siblings Ruth Henson, Mildred Henson Beckham, Christle Henson (her twin brother), Estle Henson, Lucy Henson Thomason, Isa Pearl Henson Rhodes, and Howard Lee Henson.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spencer Hill Cemetery, The Family Center of Columbia or to a favored charity.
