Edith May Cross

Edith May Cross of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee passed away peacefully on March 7, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center, her beloved sons, daughters-in-law, and granddaughter by her side. Edith is the widow of her husband of 64-years the late Ed Cross, Jr.

Edith was born on May 24, 1937, to the late Eddie and Neva McCoy in Hickman County, Tennessee. She was part of a large family growing up with her brothers Leroy McCoy, William McCoy, and her sister Mildred McCoy. She was a devout Christian giving her life to Christ at a young age. She was involved in the activities of her church, Community Church in Mount Pleasant, and the Mount Pleasant Seniors.

Her first job was a server at Shaddock’s Café at West 7th and Garden Street in Columbia. She was a housewife while her sons grew up and attended school. After both sons graduated, she worked with the public at the Dollar General Store located on the square in Mount Pleasant. Then when her husband Ed retired, she did also.

Edith is survived by her beloved sons, Steven (Tammie) Cross and Terry (Anita) Cross; grandchildren, Tiffany (Tyler) Crews, Lora (Michael) Rodgers, Cody Cross, TeeJay Cross, Terry (Jennifer) Sims, Patrick (Cayce) Sims, Devin Scott, Kara Sims and Anjoel Wood; great grandchildren, Maggie Crews, Henry Crews, Taylor Rodgers, Corbin Sims, Madison Sims, and Winston Sims.

The family will visit with friends on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Pastor Jerry Golden officiating beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Michael Rodgers, Tyler Crews, Cody Cross, Devin Scott, Randy Fox, and Michael Yearby. Honorary pallbearers are past and present members of Community Church and Mount Pleasant Seniors.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Mount Pleasant Fire Department, Mount Pleasant Police Department, Maury Regional EMS, Maury Regional Medical Center, Maury Regional Medical Center 6th Floor staff, and Compassus of Columbia for their expert care.
