Eugene "Gene" Wilson Baker

Eugene “Gene” Wilson Baker, age 76, passed away on June 12, 2019 at NHC Columbia.

Eugene was born in Mt Pleasant, Tennessee on January 9, 1943 to the late Elmer W. and Geneva Baker Roberts. He was a founding member of Freewill Baptist Church in Mt Pleasant, Tennessee. He worked at Stauffer Chemical Company in Mt Pleasant later called Astra Zeneca for 37 years when he retired in July 1998. Gene was an avid UT fan.

He is survived by daughter: Monica Kay Baker of Nevada; son: Mark Scott Baker of Mt Pleasant; son: Matthew Steven Kirk (Rachel) Baker of Nevada; grandchildren: Ashlynde Baker, Kiera Baker, Connor Baker and Addison Baker; sister: Dorris Sudberry of Mt Pleasant, Tennessee; brother: COL (R) Douglas R. (Jeanie) Baker of Huntsville, Alabama; sister: Linda (Malek) Morcos of North Carolina; and mother of his children: Sandra K. Small of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: James Earl “Peanuckle” Baker and wives: Kathy Scott Baker and Judy Holton Baker.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Williams Funeral Home, Mt Pleasant from 12:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM with Bros. William Owens and Charles Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that donations be made to Freewill Baptist Church in memory of Gene in lieu of flowers.
