Francis (Frank) E. Svehlak of Hohenwald, Tennessee passed away on January 30, 2019 in Summertown, Tennessee surrounded by his loving family.

Frank was born July 13, 1929 in Derby, Connecticut. He moved to then rural Monroe, Connecticut where he developed his love of the outdoors that stayed with him throughout his life. He developed a quest for adventure whether it was riding an unridable horse or his motorcycle. He served in Korea as a MP attached to a prisoner of war camp. He is remembered by his sister’s children as their favorite uncle who took them to the movies and for rides in his convertible. He later built a boat and sailed to Florida where he ran a charter and became an expert scuba diver. He then moved to Hohenwald, Tennessee where he ran the Golden Saddle Diner. He later lived in Midland, Texas operating a crane in the oil fields. He moved back to Tennessee which he considered home.

He is survived by his loving daughter; Frankye Ann Svehlak Thompson and son-in-law; Jamie Thompson of Summertown, Tennessee, grandchildren; Coty (Tashia) Svehlak of Summertown, Tennessee, Michaela Kerr of Shelbyville, Tennessee and Zoey Thompson of Summertown, Tennessee, four great granddaughters; Ava, Ema, Piper and Paisley, nieces; Catherine (Gus) Micci of Gilbert, Arizona and Elizabeth (Ray) Kellogg of Shelton, Connecticut. Lastly, step-daughter; Darlene (Houston) Wix of Lewis County and family.
He was predeceased by his wife; Grace Thompson Svehlak, parents; Joseph and Rose Hanggi Svehlak, brothers; Charles Svehlak and John Svehlak, sister; Catherine Svehlak Ogden and nephew; George Ogden.
