Freddie L. Johnson

June 6, 1940 — January 23, 2022

Freddie L. Johnson, age 81, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, surrounded by family in Columbia, Tennessee.

Fred was born June 6, 1940, to the late Virgil Wesley Johnson and Lucy Rickard Johnson in Gates, Tennessee.

The simple pleasures of life are what bring us the most joy, and to Mr. Fred, this couldn’t be more true. He enjoyed building things with his hands. He would take the time to work some wood into fine works of art. Even on the days he relaxed, Fred would be watching his favorite Tennessee Football team or golf. Above all else, Fred adored his family, especially cherishing the time he had with his great-great grandbabies.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy Knight Johnson; children: Tamarra (Ken) Coats and Lance Hooper Johnson (Ashley Childs); eight grandchildren: Hooper Johnson, Mary Cannon Johnson, Sarah Elizabeth (Winston) Barton, Analeigh Coats, Eleanor Johnson, Margaret Johnson, Lucy Childs, and Beau Childs; and two great-grandchildren: Langston and Nora.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Fred will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, at 11:30 AM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with Kenneth Massey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Mr. Fred.
