Harold Reed

Harold "Papa" Reed, 81, of Columbia passed away on May 15, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was born on May 4, 1939, to the late John and Opal Taylor Reed. He retired from Maury Regional Hospital after 35 years of service in Environmental Services with wife, Betty. They enjoyed 40 wonderful years together before her passing in 2017. Harold was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He helped raise his great-grandson, Kelton Owens. He made rounds to check on Katie and Lydia, his great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was spoiling his great-grandchildren, especially Kelton. He enjoyed bossing Katie around and back talking Lydia. He was known to be kind, generous, and a friend to all who knew him.

Harold is survived by grandchildren: Lydia Sprouse (Workman), Katie Martin (Workman), Shyanne Potete (McConnell), Amber Workman, and Jay McConnell all of Mt Pleasant, Tennessee; great-grandchildren: Preston Workman, Colin Sprouse, Kelton Owens, and Olivia Sprouse of Mt Pleasant, Tennessee. Brother: Raymond Reed of Columbia, and sister: Irene Reed of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Betty Reed; sons: Andrew Workman and James Workman; daughter: Karen McConnell; sister: Alta Mae Thomas (Reed); and brother: Paul Reed.

Services will be Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at Williams Funeral Home, Mt Pleasant at, 2:00 PM with Randy Sprouse officiating. Burial to follow at Arlington Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, May 18, 2020, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers are Brandon Sprouse, Chester Martin, Ray Hunter, Allen Potete, Jay McConnell, and Jackie Sprouse.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Stephenson, Preston Workman, Kelton Owens, Colin Sprouse, and Compassus nurses: Andrew, Denise, and Jennifer.
