Jack Childress

April 10, 1935 — September 20, 2022

Mr. Jack Norman Childress, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Columbia, Tennessee on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
Mr. Childress was the son of the late Roy Childress and the late Bessie Smith Childress. He was born in Maury County, Tennessee on April 10, 1935, and was one of four children. He married the former Betty Evelyn Bible on August 16, 1952, and they had three sons together. Jack is retired from the Streets and Maintenance Department of the City of Columbia and spent many years farming as well.
Jack is survived by his two sons: Mark and Bobby Childress; grandchildren: LeAnne (Robert), Chance, Brandy, Sherry, Nathan, Cody, Ben, Christine, and Ashley; daughter-in-law: Judy Childress; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Childress, and three siblings: Cecile Chupp, James Childress, and Robert Childress.
A visitation for Mr. Childress will be held at Williams Funeral Home on Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. To follow, a graveside service will be held in the Garden of Prayer at Polk Memorial Gardens at 2:00 PM, where Mr. Childress will be laid to rest.
