James Allen Young

James Allen Young, age 69, passed away on November 29, 2020, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN.

James was born on July 25, 1951, in Columbia, TN, to his late parents James Porter and Irene Boyd Young. Jim served his country in the United States Navy as a laboratory technician on a navy base in California and camp Lejune in North Carolina. After leaving the military, Jim sold life insurance and medicare supplements. He was passionate about helping anyone that he could help. He spent extensive time helping his insurance clients. He did missionary work traveling to Arizona with his church, Grace Church of the Nazarene. His other more local mission work was working in the church nursery at church. He loved spending time with the children. More than anything, he loved his family. His grandchildren were his world.

A memorial service celebrating Jim's life will be helped on Friday, December 11, 2020, beginning at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the beginning of the service at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Derek Hunter will be officiating.

Jim is survived by his wife Patsy Young of Columbia: daughters: Sarah Lee (Geoff) Boyd and Michele (Jim) Adkins of Columbia; grandchildren: Heather Brooke Harrison, Abbigail Faith Adkins, James Robert Adkins, and Maddie Lee Boyd: siblings: Rosemary (Eddie) King of Columbia, Peggy (John) McCoy of Jackson, TN; James Is preceded in death by his sister Linda Gillenwater of Kingsport, TN and his grandparents Irvie and Willie Porter.
