Jimmy Jones Hendrix

Jimmy Jones Hendrix, age 84, of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee passed away at his Canaan Road home on August 17, 2018.

Jimmy was born on April 1, 1934, in Maury County, Tennessee to the late Harvey and Kate McClain Hendrix. He attended Hay Long High School and then joined the United States Army on the buddy system with his friend, Wayne Hall. He then went to basic training and later was stationed at Frankfurt, Germany. He worked at Thurman’s Garage building racing motors for race car drivers such as Malcolm Brady at Nashville Speedway and Benny Parsons on the Nascar circuit. He retired from Monsanto after 30 plus years. He was known by his friends and coworkers at Monsanto as “Earp” and “Roadrunner”. He would always entertain them with his wild tales. He was a member of Locust Street Church of Christ where he obeyed the gospel. He was a voracious reader of military history especially World War II and Civil War; he was a Civil War enthusiast. He was a UT football and Tennessee Titans fan. He was an avid hunter as well as fisherman. He loved his hometown, his family and his dog, Beauregard.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Deane Kennedy Hendrix; daughter, Nikki (Bruce) McKennon and son, Mitch (Sabrina) Hendrix; grandchildren, Logan Hendrix, Larkin (Daniel) Paul, Jerico (Helen) McKennon, Stacia (Justin) Buckner; great grandson, Jesse McKennon; great granddaughter, Lila Kate Paul and sister, Linda Boshers and sister in law Katherine Lindsey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Lowery, Katherine Williams, Gladys Eastep and brothers, Marcus Hendrix, Clarence Hendrix and Horace (Dick) Lindsey.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Mike Williams and Terry Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Richard Kennedy, Logan Hendrix, Jerico McKennon, Josh Boshers, Mark Hendrix, Daniel Paul and Justin Buckner. Honorary pallbearers are James Patterson, Ken Smith, Wayne Hall, Terry Chapman, Jerry McNeese, Jason Boshers, Ray Boshers, Austin Davis and co-workers at Monsanto Chemical.
