Mary Elizabeth Powell of Columbia, Tennessee passed away on January 22, 2019 at NHC Columbia at the age of 87.
Liz was born March 15, 1931 in Maury County to the late Arthur Grooms and Vera Katherine McCallum Grooms. She was very proud of her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was happy to be a part of five generations. She enjoyed going to yard sales and would stop at everyone of them. She loved to go dancing at “The Barn”.
Liz is survived by five generations of the Powell family, daughter; Jean Bolton of Mt. Pleasant, son; Jim (Gayle) Powell of Mt. Pleasant, daughter; Cindy (Anthony) Francis of Ethridge, daughter; Debbie Mencer of Lynnville, Cheryl Craig of Mt. Pleasant, sixteen grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Eddie Lee Powell, daughter; Judy Powell Caruso, grandchild; Jeremy Powell, brothers; C.V. Grooms, Earl Grooms and sisters; Betty Lyles and Gail Grooms.
Services will be held at Williams Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Hoss Holt officiating. Family will visit with friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
