Mary Katherine Townsend (Sally), longtime resident of Mt Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on January 31, 2020, at the age of 85.
Mary was born on February 16, 1934 to the late John Edward Thornton and Rosie Mae Nolen Thornton in Maury County, Tennessee. She was of the Christian faith. Her life revolved around her kids and grandkids. She loved all kinds of flowers and had a green thumb. She grew flowers inside the house and outdoors. She always had a garden with lots of vegetable that she would give away to family and friends. She also liked to crochet and do crossword puzzles.
Mary is survived by her daughters: Kathy (Tim) Smith, and Polly (Jon) Finley; grandkids: Justin (Chris) Sensat, Kayla (Jeremy) Dunn, Kaleb (Tiffany) Mosley, Brett Mosley, Madison Finley, Matthew Finley, and Micah Finley; great-grandkids: Anna Dunn, Alex Dunn, and Leslie Anne Judd; sister: Della Whitehead; and brother: George Thornton. She is preceded in death by her husband: Waldon Keathley Townsend; sisters: Margaret Sharp and Annie Morton; and brothers: Ed Thornton, Jim Thornton, Bob Thornton, and Dee Thornton.
There will be a graveside service at Arlington Cemetery, Monday, February 3, 2020 at 2:00 PM.
Pallbearers are: Jon Finley, Matthew Finley, Micah Finley, Justin Sensat, Chris Stanley, and Jeremy Dunn.
Honorary pallbearers are: Kaleb Mosley, Brett Mosley and Tim Smith.
