Michael Massie

December 18, 1967 — April 7, 2020

Michael “Big Mo” Massie, age 52, passed away on April 7, 2020, unexpectedly. Michael was born December 18, 1967, to the late William Massie and Virginia Tosh Massie.
Big Mo was a die-hard road warrior and family man. Before he hit the road, he worked laying pipe, for Civil Construction, Shelby Utilities, Bassham Excavating and Shapiro Farm Supply.
When he wasn’t working often you could find Big Mo working on CB radios, computers, or his latest car project. Michael loved his family and friends deeply and they him. Big Mo will be sorely missed.
Michael is survived by his mother: Virginia Massie; wife: Paula Massie; daughters: Heather Massie (Allen) of Columbia, and Heaven Messer (Chris) of Kentucky; son: Mark Evans (Shyla) of Linden, Tennessee; grandsons: Trentyn “Motorgator” Hughes, Sky Messer, and Isaiah Evans;
granddaughter: Lilly Evans; special friends: Jerry Gray, Jr. “Pup”, William “Fat Boy” Gray, Matthew Kennedy, Jessica “Boo” McNabb, and Jessica Ashworth; brother: Jimmy Massie (Jennifer); sister: Tracy Gray; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
father, sisters: Connie Prince (Eddie) and Vicky Love; uncle: Richard Clark; grandmother: Lily B.Cruze; and brother-in-law: Jerry “Gray Dog” Gray.
“This is Big Mo from the Hills of Tennessee. Tuning in to do one last audio check, screaming Triple 3 WORLD…WORLD…WORLD WIDE IF YOUR LIGHTS ARE FLASHING AND TV A FLICKERING IT’S JUST BIG MO WAVING MY FINAL GOODBYES. I’m reading the mail and I’m back quiet 10-7.”
There will be a Graveside Service on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 3:30 PM at Polk Memorial Gardens. Family will have restricted visitation at Williams Funeral Home, Columbia on April 14th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM and April 15th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be Fatboy, Matthew Kennedy, Little Robert, son Chris Messer, Shannon Love, ADub and Coleman.
Honorary pallbearers are Pup, Timmy, Kennedy G, Eddie “Sked” Davis, Mike “Mo Rag” Ragsdale,Darrel D. Clark, Bradley Clark, Roland “RoRo” Shapiro, Michael “Mo” Potts, Brand Love, and his CB Buddies.
