He and Charlene sold their home in Williamsport where they lived for 33 years. In 2006 they moved to Mt Pleasant to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They rarely missed a sporting event for any of the grandchildren.

After moving to Mt Pleasant he continued to fill in for local churches as needed. Jack was always active in missions. He served with the Tennessee Baptist disaster relief team and spent time in New York following the 9-11 disaster. He has been on 26 local mission trips and 4 international trips. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Mt Pleasant since 2006 serving as a deacon. He served as the city Chaplain in Mt Pleasant for several years and helped the community anyway he could. He received the Judge Ed T. Workman award in 2011 for his service and commitment to the community. He was Chaplain for Truck Stops of America and volunteered for many agencies over the years, especially after retiring.
