Sheila Kaye Long

Sheila Kaye Meigs Long of Athens, Alabama, devoted wife of Ronald Edward Long, died peacefully on February 14, 2020. Sheila was born on January 21, 1958 in Florence, Alabama.

Sheila was a lifelong member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1976, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Spalding University in 1997. She worked as a manufacturing supervisor for General Electric and was a loyal employee for 40 years. She was devoted to the GE Elfun Society, Gilda's Club, and St. Jude Children's Hospital. To know Sheila was to love Sheila, as evidenced by the limitless multitude of close friends and family that she leaves behind. She was a beautifully talented artist and singer, and had a passion for living life to the fullest.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Ronald Edward Long, of 17 years; mother, Barbara Livengood Harlan (Calvin); father, Jack Meigs; a sister, Beverly Meigs Maxwell (Randy); a brother, Micky Meigs (Angie); mother-in-law, Sybil Louise Long; an adoring aunt to Michael Maxwell (Emily), John Beckett Maxwell, Taylor Maxwell, Benjamin Meigs, Caleb Meigs; and loving stepmother to Ronald Long, Jr (Sheril), Michael Long (Theresa), and Morgan Charles. Sheila was a proud and doting grandmother to 9 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter, who loved her dearly along with step-brothers: Bryan (Lyndee) Harlan and Scott (Lisa) Harlan.

A celebration of Sheila's life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Highland Park Baptist Church at 12:00 Noon in Columbia, TN. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
