    Thomas "Scotty" Gray

    July 28, 1967 - May 2, 2022

    Thomas Scott “Scotty” Gray, age 54, passed from this life on Monday, May 2, 2022, in Columbia, Tennessee. Scotty was born on July 28, 1967, to Jane Ann Gray and the late Ronnie Owen Gray in Nashville, Tennessee. Scotty was most recently employed at Carmax, transporting vehicles from one location to another. Prior to, he dedicated 18 hardworking years as an owner/operator truck driver at Swift Transportation. He took pride in being able to teach others the trade. In his off time, he was very energetic and active, he couldn’t sit still too long before finding his next project. Whether it was tinkering with something, hiking, or bike riding, nothing could keep this man indoors. He is a handyman by trade, anything that needed fixin’, Scotty was your guy. Scotty was a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother. A kind and caring family man, always generous with his time, who took time out of his day to listen to anyone that needed an ear. Scotty was a positive fella and saw things from the greener side. Those left to cherish his memory will be his wife, Jennifer Collins Gray; son: Ryan Scott Gray; daughters: Morgan Gray (Nic) Masters and Maggie Gray; stepchildren: Nathaniel Ethridge and Andrew Ethridge; mother: Jane Ann Gray; siblings: Gary Gray, Bobby (Dawn) Gray, Mark (Adriana) Gray, Kelly Gray, and Andy (Reya) Gray; father-in-law: Steve Collins; mother-in-law: Cindy Collins; brothers-in-law: Charlie Collins, Cory Collins; aunts: Patty (Jerry) Brown, Janice Corsetti, and Pam (Jerry) Krahn; uncle: John (Brenda) Randles; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his father, Scotty is preceded in death by his best friend: Chuck Ray; paternal grandparents: Eurial Lee and Evelyn Smith Gray; and maternal grandparents: Harvey and Thelma Randles. Scotty’s family will be receiving friends and family at Williams Funeral Home Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service for Scotty will be held Friday, May 6, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, with one hour of visitation prior. Bro. Maurice Hollingsworth and Bro. Bob Vassar will be officiating the service. Scotty will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Keith Gray, James Michael Gray, Joel Morrison, Nic Masters, Charlie Collins, and Xavier Gray. Honorary pallbearers: Cory Collins, Employees of Carmax, Employees of Swift, and James Gibson. To share condolences and words of comfort to the family, please visit www.williamsfh.com.
