Vicki Sonya Akins Staggs, age 69, passed away on October 13th, 2021 in Lewisburg, Tennessee. She was born on June 28th, 1952 to the late Willard Dan Akins and Rosa Bell Himes Akins in Five Points, Tennessee.
Vicki had a huge heart for others. She treated everyone like they were her children. She cherished all the times she got to spend with her 14 nieces and nephews she treated as her own children.
Vicki admired the beauty of flowers and planted a beautiful garden wherever she could. When it's blooming season, you could find her in her garden admiring her lilies and irises, proudly observing the fruits of her labor. When she wasn’t tending to her flowers, you could find her cuddling up with her favorite romance novels.
Vicki has touched so many lives in unthinkable ways and has left a mark on everyone’s heart. She will be so deeply missed.
The family will be receiving family and friends on Friday, October 15th, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service for Ms. Vicki will be held on Saturday, October 16th, 2021 beginning at 11:00 AM, with Brother Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will proceed to Pisgah Cemetery where Ms. Vicki will be laid to rest.
She is proceeded in death by her beloved husband: Herman “Pete” Staggs; brothers: “Joe” Akins, Kenneth “Popeye” Akins, Nick Akins, Johnny Akins; sisters-in-law: Dolly Jernigan, Alex Akins, and Lily Akins.
Vicki is survived by her brother: Samuel Akins; sister-in-law and best friend: Ellen Akins; 14 special nieces and nephews; stepchildren: Rachel Staggs Douglas, Ryan (Sara) Staggs, and Daniel Staggs; step-grandchildren: Jarret Beech, Austin Beech, Sam Beech, and Britton Staggs.
Pallbearers will be Larry Akins, Gary Akins, Adam Akins, Carl Akins, David Akins, Douglas Akins, Donnie Akins, and AJ Akins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deborah Davis, Kim Akins, Donna Lay, Michelle Wilhite, Rosa Lynn Horton, and Nichole Thornburg.
