Wilda Esther Knupp

Born in Union County, Dongola, IL, on February 27, 1921, Mrs. Knupp was the daughter of the late Esther A. and Vesta E. Karraker of Dongola, IL. Wilda was the wife of the late, Rev. J. Lowell Knupp. She was the mother of Robert L. (Dee) Knupp of Milner, GA, and Gary L. Knupp of Jackson, TN. She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Karraker of Altoona, PA, her step-father, John Karraker of Dongola, her three stepsisters, Hazel (Durward) Manwaring of Lake Worth, FL, Nina (Audie) Adams of Terra Haute, IN, and Louise (John) Wiesenberger of Valdosta, GA.

Other survivors include three granddaughters, Melanie Knupp of Nashville, TN, Elizabeth (Todd McCarthy) of Smyrna, GA, and Julie Knupp of Oakland, TN; one niece, Lisa Karraker of Pennsylvania, one nephew, Greg Karraker of San Francisco, CA, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jean (Carl) Lacey of E. Hartford, CT, Robbie Knupp (late husband Donald) of Savannah, TN, and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas McCarthy, and twins, Michael and Madison McCarthy of Smyrna, GA.

Her adopted family members were, the late Christopher and Margaret Kota of Hot Springs, AR, their daughter, Dr. Manjusha Kota, grandson, David, and son, Mr. and Mrs. Sekhar (Jen) Kota and their children, Adalaid and Christopher of Champaign, IL, the late Mary Baron and family, Ed and Brenda Miller and family, Gary and Sherry Hileman and family, Mel Horna or Peree, MX and the late Mrs. Carolyn Looper.

She was a graduate of Summers Beauty School in West Frandfort, IL and was employed in Metropolis, IL. She was a Sunday School teacher and served eighteen years as secretary for Women’s Missionary Union of Maury Baptist Association. She was the alteration lady for Pigg and Parson’s for twenty-three years, worked for Williams Funeral Home for seven years, and did clothing alterations for the public for many years, retiring at the age of 87. She also served alongside her Pastor husband, in various ways in each church he pastored.

Funeral services for Mrs. Knupp will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home with Dee Knupp officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 12 Noon until service time at 2:00 p.m.

Pallbearers are Rick Molder, Ray Potts, Billy Potts, Lytle Wise, Ed Miller and Sam Beddingfield. Honorary pallbearers are: Dan Cutright, Ed VanMaren, Bobby Chance, Dr. Tom Moore, Dr. Ken Moore, Bob Vassar, Peter Sierson, Sekhar Kota, David Byers, Lee Dryer, Jim Davenport, David Adapelli, Richard Smith and Rush Harrison.
