Yvonne Sumner Hayes, 76, of Columbia, TN passed away on November 29, 2018 at Vanderbilt Hospital.
Yvonne was born on March 11, 1942 in New Orleans, LA to Jules & Martha “Gasper” Sumner. She married Allen Hayes in 1967. They were together for 51 wonderful years. Mrs. Hayes attended Southern University where she got a BS in teaching. She specialized in Special Education. She was a member of C1 Assembly of God. She enjoyed serving in the Fleet Reserve Auxiliary Association and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to witness for her Lord. She would ask everyone she met; Are you saved? Do you know Jesus Christ? She continued to witness to the end of her life. She valued education and made sure her sons got a good education. Both received Master Degrees in their selected fields. She never met a stranger. She was known to be a sweet, loving and caring lady. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States with her husband. She loved her grandbabies with all her heart.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Allen, two sons, Ron Allen (Elizabeth Lingle, fiancé) & Don Erik, granddaughter, Savannah Jade and grandson, Julien “Juju”, sisters, Alnetta Jackson, Miarian Fobb and Diana Henry, brothers, Charles (Peaches) Sumner, and many wonderful friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jules & Martha, siblings, Irene, Walter & Jules.
Services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia at 11:00 am. Interment following at Polk Memorial Gardens. Visitation with family and friends will be Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Visitation for family begins at 3:00 PM. Pastor Eddie Turner, Pastor Norm Lesterjett, Nancy Creel, Remeika Fobb and Joy Turner will all be speaking and sharing wonderful memories of Yvonne Hayes.
Pallbearers are: Ron Hayes, Don Hayes, Jeremy Womack, Tillous Carter, Eric Creel and Robert Creel.
Honorary Pallbearers: Randy Tosh, Jason Tosh, Jimmy Scarborough and the intercessory prayer group at C1.
