Mr. Alton M. "Bama" Thompson, 81, a resident of Transit Avenue, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 25, 2002 at Williamson Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The Cullman County, Alabama native was the son of the late Monroe and Lillie Williams Thompson. He was the husband of Evelyn Frances Southern Thompson of Columbia. He was retired as a welder in the fabricating shop at Monsanto Chemical Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia.

In addition to his wife he issurvived by 4 sons, Francis M. "Frankie" Joyce Thompson of Columbia, TN, Larry D. Depp of Colorado Springs, CO, Matt Debra Thompson of Moody, AL, and George T. Ruby Thompson of Cloumbia, TN; a sister, pearly Thompson of Cullman, AL; 10 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. He was precedd in death by a sister, Bessie Nicholson; 5 brothers, Charlie Thompson, Henry Thompson, Boots Thompson, Luther Thompson, and Christopher Thompson.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Southern, Jr., Danny Chadwell, Sid Richey, Enoch George, John Church, Royal Dickson, DeWayne DeWaire, and Ray Kuykendall.

Honorary pallbearers will be former employees of Monsanto Chemical Company.
