Kenneth Ross Walters, age 62, passed away on January 8, 2026. He was born on November 6, 1963, in Columbia, Tennessee, to the late Joe Ross Walters and Maudie Cotton Walters.
Kenneth was married to Darlene Porter Walters, the love of his life, with whom he shared a lifetime of devotion, laughter, and partnership.
When Kenneth and Darlene were young, he worked as a cashier for many years in Mount Pleasant. Darlene would keep him company and hide out in the back while Kenneth helped the customers. But his life took an unexpected and meaningful turn when he accepted what he thought would be a temporary job in pest control. That job became his passion. In 2005, Kenneth founded Reliable Termite and Pest Control, a business that was truly his pride and joy—his “baby.” Known throughout Maury County as “The Bug Man,” Kenneth proudly served the community for many years, working side by side with his son and dedicated employees, treating customers like family.
Kenneth was a die-hard Alabama fan and loved cheering on the Crimson Tide. He had a gift for humor and lived to make people laugh. If Kenneth picked on you, it meant he liked you—and if he gave you a nickname, you knew you were special to him. His playful teasing and quick wit were trademarks of who he was. He was a strong person, Kenneth fought for 7 years through difficult health battles. He always maintained a positive spirit and smile despite the pain he was in.
Above all, Kenneth’s greatest joy was his children and, especially, his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Kenneth will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his laughter, his love for people, and the legacy he built through his family and community. His presence will be deeply missed, but his stories, jokes, and nicknames will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Kenneth is survived by his wife: Darlene Walters; children: Kimberly Walters, Kenneth Joe “Ross” Walters, and Bill (Becky) Walters; grandchildren: Logan Anthony Shields, Andrew Shields, Kenneth “Winston” Walters, and Kash Walters; siblings: Glenda (Howard) Garland, and Billy Walters; special nieces: Nicole (Don) McClain and Vicky Marshall; cousin: Brittany Webb and his beloved k-9 companions: Bama, Mia, and Luna, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kenneth is preceded in death by his brother Danny (Survived by Kaye) Walters, and special cousin Chris Cotton.
