Bobby Ray Beckum, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center. A beloved husband, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Bobby's gentle spirit and humble heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Born in May 1940, Bobby was the son of the late Almon and Neva King Beckum. He was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and James Bailey. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sarah Laws Beckum; stepdaughters Carol (Jeff) King and Tina (Mike) Taylor; grandchildren Kyle (Amanda) King and Kristen (Justice) Burkeen; and great-grandchildren Emery King, Gunner King, Maverick Burkeen, and Kameron Burkeen. He also leaves behind a special nephew, Michael Bailey, and a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
To his great-grandchildren, Bobby was affectionately known as “Honey Bob,” a name that perfectly captured the sweetness and warmth he shared so freely.
Bobby found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing at Joe Wheeler Dam, tending to his garden, and preserving the fruits of his labor through canning — always finding peace and purpose in God’s soil. A lover of antiques, he enjoyed collecting, selling, and attending auctions. His love for country life, especially his cherished memories of King Hollow, remained close to his heart throughout his life.
In his early years, Bobby could often be found riding a tricycle with friends — a testament to his vibrant spirit and the joy he found in community. He was truly loved by everyone who knew him, remembered for his humility, kindness, and down-to-earth nature.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Compassus Hospice, the dedicated nursing staff of the third floor at Maury Regional Medical Center, and Jessica Collier with Home Health for their compassionate care during Bobby’s final days.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. A second visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Mark King. Bobby will be laid to rest at Bailey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff King, Mike Taylor, Chris King, Kyle King, Michael Bailey, and Justice Burkeen. Honorary pallbearers include the members of Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in Bobby’s memory.
