Brad Lewis, longtime resident of Hickman County, was born on August 10, 1955, and passed away peacefully at his home with loved ones on September 12th, 2025.
Brad moved to Tennessee in the early 1990’s when General Motors opened the Saturn plant in Spring Hill, TN. In 1994, he purchased land in Hickman County. When he first brought his then wife, Bonnie Lewis, to see it, she was surprised and said, “but it's all trees.” Brad later gave her a chainsaw for Mother’s Day-a gift that spoke to both his humor and his vision.
Brad worked for General Motors until his retirement in 2006, after which he devoted his time to woodworking, a craft he loved deeply. His projects were many, but after the heartbreaking loss of his daughter and grandson in a tragic car accident, his work took on even greater meaning. In their memory, he began building toy boxes, a lasting legacy of love and healing.
Brad was a devoted father and is survived by his children: Chelsea Mattocks (Matthew Garton) of Dickson, TN, Heather Weilbacher (Thomas DeGraff) of Little Rock, AR, Benjamin Lewis of Centerville, TN and Nachelle Lewis of Centerville, TN. He is also remembered with love by his stepchildren: TJ Kent, Andrew Kent and Michelle Kent as well as his partner, Gale Kelley, who shared life and love with him in his later years. He was blessed with 11 biological grandchildren and several step grandchildren who brought great joy to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beverly Lewis, his daughter, Kristi Clark and his grandson, Carter Oakley and his wife, Bonnie Lewis.
Brad’s life was one of resilience, creativity, and devotion to his family. He will be remembered for the way he worked with his hands, the way he loved with his heart and the way he turned loss into legacy.
