Cecil
Scott
Jun 14, 1965 — Oct 31, 2026
Mount Pleasant
Thursday
Cecil “Doughbelly” Scott, a man of unwavering faith, a giving heart, and a larger-than-life personality, passed away on October 31, 2026. He was born on June 14, 1965, in Columbia, Tennessee, to Annie Chapman and the late Clyde Cecil Scott.
Known affectionately as “Doughbelly,” Cecil was a man who truly loved life and knew how to make the most of every moment. With his wonderful sense of humor and love for a good meal, he could bring laughter and joy to just about any gathering. He never met an opportunity to help someone that he didn't take, always willing to lend a hand or give what he could to those in need. His generous spirit and kind heart were just a few of the qualities that made him so special to those who knew him.
Cecil spent his career behind the wheel as a truck driver, operating everything from dump trucks to 18-wheelers. When he wasn't on the road working, he enjoyed the freedom of riding his beloved Harley-Davidson motorcycle alongside his friends. Whether he was cruising down the highway or sharing stories with those around him, Cecil embraced every adventure life had to offer.
Above all, Cecil was a man of tremendous faith. He loved the Lord and enjoyed attending church, where his powerful testimony and heartfelt words left a lasting impression. He had a gift for sharing God's goodness, and when Cecil began to preach, he could deliver a sermon that would bring tears to your eyes. His testimony was one of strength, conviction, and a deep love for his Savior, and he never hesitated to share it with others.
Family held a special place in Cecil's heart. He loved his momma dearly and treasured his children and grandchildren. As a proud father of three and grandfather of eight, he found great joy in the family he was blessed with. His love for those closest to him was evident in the way he lived, always ready with a laugh, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement.
Cecil leaves behind a legacy of faith, laughter, generosity, and a life lived to the fullest. Though his presence will be deeply missed, the stories he shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Cecil is survived by his loving mother, Annie Chapman; his children, Sheena (AJ) Campbell, Heather Dingler, and Dustin (Britlyne) Scott; his eight grandchildren, Aniston Campbell, Brayden Cooper, Dallan Scott, Camden Cooper, Jessa Scott, Haize Dingler, Ansley Campbell, and Austyn Scott; and his siblings, Tammy (Wayne) Martin and Jeff (Abigail) Scott.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Cecil Scott; and his grandparents, Boyd and Gladys Scott and C.T. and Annie Andrews.
A graveside will be held on thursday, November 5, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Andrews Cemetery in Santa Fe, Tennessee with Jason Love officiating. Pallbearers: Chris McKissack, Brandon McKissack, Taylor Scott, Brayden Cooper, Ashtin Cottrell, and Ryan Newberry.
