Charles Edward "Eddie" Richardson

November 12, 1932 — February 13, 2024

Columbia

Charles Edward "Eddie" Richardson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and decorated veteran, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024 in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 91. Eddie was born on November 12, 1932 in Leoma, Tennessee to parents, Luther Richardson and Rosie Spears Richardson.

Eddie lived a truly remarkable and fulfilling life. Throughout his career, he worked diligently at Occidental as a Supervisor until his retirement. His dedication and commitment to his work were evident to all who knew him.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Eddie served in the United States Army during the Korean War in the 1950s. He displayed immense courage and bravery during his military service, earning several Purple Heart awards for his exceptional valor.

However, Eddie's proudest achievement was undoubtedly his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife for nearly 72 years before her passing just five months ago. Together, they lovingly raised four children - Shirley Richardson, Debbie Burgett, Larry Charles Richardson and Garry Edward Richardson.

Eddie's love for his grandchildren was boundless. He embraced the role of doting grandfather with zeal and joy. Whether rolling around on the floor with them for hours or attending every sporting event they had, Eddie made sure to be present in their lives. Even on shopping trips to the mall, he would lovingly accompany them or patiently wait in the waiting area.

Those who knew Eddie will remember him as someone who always spoke his mind with kindness and had a gentle demeanor that touched the hearts of everyone he encountered.

Eddie is survived by his two sons, Larry (Jennifer) Richardson and Garry Richardson. He is also survived by his grandchildren Derrick (Jennifer) Burgett, Hannah Grace (Hayden) Alford, and Sam (Carson) Richardson; great-grandchildren: Emma, Macie, and Sophie Burgett. Eddie's memory will forever be cherished by his siblings Vera Louise Mitchell and Joyce Orton.

Eddie's passing leaves behind a void that will never be filled. However, we take solace in knowing that he lived a long and fulfilling life surrounded by loved ones who admired him greatly.

To honor Eddie's memory and pay tribute to his extraordinary life, visitation services will be held on February 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home & Crematory in Columbia, Tennessee.
