Dale Stephenson Hughes

Dale Stephenson Hughes, age 52, a resident of Pulaski, Tennessee and born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed from this earth following a short illness at Maury Regional Hospital on September 6, 2023. Dale was born September 23, 1970 to JP and Nancy Jo Hughes.

Dale went to Mt. Pleasant High School where he graduated in 1988.  Dale continued his education at ITT Tech where he received his Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering. 

Dale married his child hood sweetie, Kelly King in 1992 and they started this life together.  A son was born in this union, Corey Dale Hughes.  Dale was so proud of his son and he loved him unconditionally.  Dale and Kelly were married 31 years.  Dale was a loving husband, father, and Papa.

Dale worked over half of his life as a heavy equipment operator and he loved moving dirt. 

Dale was kind, compassionate and sincere in everything he did.  Never meeting a stranger and always eager to share a smile with everyone he met.  Known for his beautiful Baby Blue Eyes.

Dale was a member of the Main Street church of Christ and of the Christian faith. 

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Kelly King Hughes, son, Corey (Kendal) Hughes, grand daughters, Payton, Maci and Nora Hughes.  Sisters, Joan(Dale) Lindsey, Leslie(Tommy) Pewitt, and his big brother, Alan (Adra) Hughes,several nephews, nieces, cousins. 

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, JP and Nancy Jo Hughes.

The family of Dale Hughes would like to express our gratitude to the staff on the 5^th floor , ICU at Maury Regional Medical Center, for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Dale and his family during his short illness.  Special thanks to Sarah Sanders, ER, Sydney Osborne, RN, Michael RN, Mikayla RN, Logan RN, Christina RN and all the staff that took part in his care and comfort behind the scenes.  Physical Therapy Dept Angela Watson whom Dale nicknamed “Jane Fonda” and the physical therapy technician “Princess Warrior”.

Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, September 9 from 4-8 P.M.  At Williams Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. There will be a private graveside gathering for family and close friends at a later date at Glennwood Cemetary in Columbia, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help with funeral expenses.
