David Eldon Brannan, age 79, passed away peacefully in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Hattie Brannan; his brothers, Robert Brannan and Gene Brannan; and two beloved mentors, Uncle Von Meeks and Mr. Hardwick, who each played meaningful roles in his life.

David is survived by his siblings, Ron Brannan, Carman Lawson, and Paula Inman; his devoted children, Melisa (Joseph) Clark, Lori (Brian) Campbell, and Travis Brannan; and his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Clark, Garrett Clark, Andrew Campbell, and Addison Brannan, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.

Born in Carrollton, Illinois, David spent many years working for General Motors as an Operations Technician in the Injection Molding Department. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication throughout his career.

Above all else, David was wholeheartedly devoted to his children and their happiness. He was truly one of a kind—lighthearted, warm, and full of humor. A natural jokester, he delighted in making others laugh and loved watching comedy shows on television. His family will always remember his signature phrases, especially his favorite saying, “I’m talking Murphy,” along with many other unforgettable one-liners.

David held a deep and abiding faith and was a believer in Jesus Christ as his Lord. His faith guided his life and brought him peace and comfort.

He found his greatest happiness outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of nature. He loved hunting and fishing, especially catfishing, and always looked forward to the annual summer fishing trips he shared with his brothers. Music was another important part of his life, having grown up in a musical family. He especially enjoyed the sounds of artists such as Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, and Carl Perkins. David also had a fondness for classic cars, with a special appreciation for the 1994 Pontiac Firehawk.

David Eldon Brannan will be remembered for his faith, his humor, his love of family, and his joyful spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., with a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens.
