Debbie Carlton Domingues, 70, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 18, 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie Carlton Demeritt and Calvin Demeritt. 

She is survived by her daughter, Sara Welsh; two granddaughters, Danielle and Keri; five great grandchildren, Austin, Niomi, Damion, Bella and Amelia; sisters Cindy Carlton McKnight and Deanna “Dee” Demeritt Woodlee (Stacey); two nieces, Erin and Morgan Woodlee; and her cherished friend and angel on earth Becky “Sulli” Sullivan. 

The family will be eternally grateful to Sulli for all the kindness, compassion and care that she extended to Debbie. Debbie graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1974. While attending LCHS, she was also a member of the band’s flag corp, and she was the band’s drum major in her senior year. She enjoyed participating in various parades throughout her years in the band and in directing the band during halftime at football games. After graduating from LCHS she traveled to various parts of the country, eventually settling down in North Carolina where she resided for many years. After leaving North Carolina she moved to southern Tennessee where she worked and made numerous friends. Debbie was an avid crafter. She enjoyed needlework and most recently she began painting landscape scenes. 

Debbie will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
