Obituary

Dodd Emmanuel “Harvell” Garrett, age 62, of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, son and daughter-in-law.

Dodd was born November 26, 1963, in Clarkrange, Tennessee, where he was raised. He later moved to Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, where he made his home for approximately 40 years. He was the son of Donnie Garrett and the late Loma Kay Garrett.

Dodd was a member of Clarkrange Baptist Church.

Dodd graduated from Clarkrange High School and later attended Columbia State Community College, where his studies focused on reading blueprints and building construction. He went on to spend approximately 40 years working in construction. Construction wasn’t simply a job for Dodd—it was a trade he knew well, took great pride in, and truly enjoyed.

Dodd was one of the hardest-working man you could ever meet. Even throughout his battle with cancer, he continued working on days when he was sick and didn’t feel like going. That was simply who Dodd was. He was strong, determined, hardworking, and above all, a fighter.

When Dodd wasn’t working, he loved hunting and fishing with his buddies. He also had a love for dirt-track racing, something he especially enjoyed alongside his son, Steve and Brayden Gray. He loved working on his old truck and going to car shows with Steve and Karen. Some of his happiest memories were made doing the things he loved with the people he loved.

Dodd will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, father in law, loyal son, brother, friend, and a fighter until the very end. Those who knew and loved Dodd will carry his memory with them always.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Loma Kay Garrett.

Dodd is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Judy Garrett; son, Steve Riggins, Daughter in Law Karen Riggins; father, Donnie Garrett; brother, Kevin Garrett; sister, Donna Kay (Mike) Smith, all of Clarkrange, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Howard (Brenda) Davis; sister-in-law, Cindy Crigger; and several nieces and nephews. fur baby, Larson, who was always right by his side and will surely miss him.
