Donald “Don” Franklin Rose, age 75, went on to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.
Don was born on November 30, 1947, to the late Ernest Merrell Rose and Carlyne Beckenbach Rose in Columbia, Tennessee.
Don dedicated 30 long years to the Columbia Police Department and retired as a detective. After enjoying his retirement, a little too much, Don realized he was just too young to stop working so he joined the workforce again for another 10 years at Community First Bank.
Don has always been involved with his community and that’s how several people have come to love Don. He was a former chairman of the Discipleship House for Women, a part of the Maury County Baptist Association, the Fraternal Order of the Police, and a long-time member of Northside Baptist Church.
Don was devoted to his family and the Lord. Don was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all the lives he has touched.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Ann Tosh Rose; daughter: Devonya (Brent) King, grandchildren: Landon (Ashley) King, Shane Rose, Logan (Jama) King, Lane Rose, and Lawson King; five sweet great-grandchildren; and sisters: Vera Allen and Merrellyn McCormick.
In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his son, Mike Rose; and siblings: Christine Riddle, Jim Rose, and Linda Young.
The family will receive friends and visitors at Northside Baptist Church on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Brother Matt Travers will be officiating. To follow, Don will be laid to rest in the Garden of Mark at Polk Memorial Gardens. Columbia Police Department will serve as Honor Guard.
Honorary pallbearers are the Columbia Police Department, Maury County Sheriff’s Department, and Northside Baptist Church.
