Douglas Carl Kraus, age 69, of Pulaski, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025. He was born on December 18, 1955, in Lawrence, Kansas, to Carl and Arlene Kraus.
Doug faced many health challenges over the past decade, but throughout his life he remained steadfast in his generosity and kindness. He had a giving heart and found joy in making others happy. His favorite pastimes included fishing, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends.
Doug began his career in the service, but due to issues with his eyesight, he was honorably and medically discharged. Dedicated to serving his community, he went on to volunteer as a firefighter, later becoming a medic and a sheriff’s patrolman. His life was marked by compassion, bravery, and a desire to help others.
In his later years, Doug made his home at Meadow Brook Nursing Home in Pulaski, where he was deeply cared for and loved by the staff and residents.
Doug is survived by his mother, Arlene Kraus of Columbia, Tennessee; his father, Carl Kraus of Harrisonville, Missouri; his son, Christopher (JoAnna) Kraus, and granddaughters, Maddie and Hailey, of Finland; brothers Kenneth Lee (Judy) Kraus of Harrisonville, Missouri, and Mike (Robbie) Kraus of Belton, Missouri; and his sister, Sherri (Ed) Stacy. He also leaves behind special nieces by marriage, Courtney (Jayson) Stacy, Charleigh Stacy, and Sawyer Stacy; along with a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Doug’s life was one of service, generosity, and love, and he will be remembered for his warm heart and giving spirit.
