Edwin "Ed" Deason

March 14, 1936 — October 14, 2022

Edwin “Ed” L. Deason, age 86, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee.
Ed was born on March 14, 1936, to the late Wilburn and Irene Deason in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana.
When Ed was young his family moved from Louisiana to Oklahoma as his father worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was always excited to go back to Louisiana during the summers to spend time with his family. He never wanted to leave and would always look forward to the next summer. In 1954, Ed graduated from Southeast High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country from 1954 until 1974 with two tours of Vietnam. While serving Ed married Katie Jean Trowbridge and had two daughters: Deborah and Patricia. After retiring from the United Stated Marine Corps, he went back to school and received his master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Central Oklahoma. He worked for the Post Office while finishing his education. Ed took a teaching position with the Putnam City School District as a history teacher and football coach.
After his retirement from the school district, Ed was an active member of the Masonic Lodge #539 Moore, OK. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans joining in 1984. He was elected in August of 2000 to the Commander-in-Chief of the organization and served until 2002. He cherished the moments that he spent with each organization. The family would like to extend gratitude to both organizations.
Ed married Connie McGee Morris in 2006 and they shared many adventures traveling together in the RV. Anytime they were back in Oklahoma, he always made a stop at Waterloo (Edmond) and loved to reminisce about his life and childhood with his family. Ed was a man that people gravitated towards. He would start with your name and by the end of the conversation he would know everything about you. He loved meeting people. He was passionate about his family heritage and did extensive research in his family genealogy.
Those left to cherish Ed’s memory are his wife Connie Morris Deason; daughters Deborah (Charlie) Knipp and Patricia (Lex) Keim; Stepson Matt (Amy) Morris. Grandsons; Justin Knipp and Cale (Jerri) Keim. Granddaughters; Kindal (Amar) Arafat and Macie (Tanner) Warf. 2 great granddaughters and 4 great grandsons.
