Era Pruitt, 84, passed away on September 19, 2026. She was born on April 29, 1942, in San Diego, California, to the late Guy Miller Jones and Hope “Brown” Jones. She grew up surrounded by her family and was one of six siblings.

Era was a hardworking woman who took pride in doing things well. She was the kind of person who stayed busy and always seemed to have something to work on. She enjoyed gardening and could often be found tending to her flowers and plants. She also had a talent for sewing and spent many hours making clothes and beautiful quilts. These were things she truly enjoyed, and the pieces she made became special reminders of her for her family.

Era was always one to take pride in her appearance. She was known for being well dressed and always put together, no matter where she was going. She carried herself with a quiet confidence and had her own way of doing things. Family was important to Era, and she took great pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She shared more than 50 years married to Charles Pruitt.

After retirement, Era found more time to enjoy some of the things she loved. One of her favorite things was traveling with her sister, Rebecca. The two shared many adventures and made memories together that Era treasured. Those trips gave her the opportunity to see new places, spend time with someone she loved, and simply enjoy life.

Era was also a longtime member of Macedonia Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Her church family was an important part of her life, and her faith remained a source of comfort and strength throughout the years. One of Era's Joys was when her and her husband, Charles would sing at church.

Era was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Pruitt; her son, Joel Pruitt; her parents, Guy Miller Jones and Hope “Brown” Jones; her brother, David Jones; and her brother-in-law, Joe Duncan.

She leaves behind her son, Jeffrey ”Roscoe” Pruitt; grandchildren, Paige Pruitt and Antonio Nascimento; and great-grandchildren, Eli Pruitt, Isaac Patrick, and Kolby Nascimento. She is also survived by her siblings, Rebecca Jones Duncan, Jonathan (Marti) Brown Jones, Mark (Nancy) Jones, and Luke Jones, along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

There are so many little things that will bring Era to mind—the flowers she cared for, the clothes and quilts she lovingly made, the way she always made sure she looked her best, and the stories and memories from the years she spent with her family. She lived a full life, worked hard, loved her family, stayed true to herself, and made the most of the time she was given.

Era will be deeply missed, but the memories she made and the love she shared with her family will remain with them for years to come. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted sister, a woman of faith, and someone who knew how to enjoy the simple things in life.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 11:00AM at The Arbors Pavilion at Polk Memorial Gardens with John Baker officiating. The family will receive friends and family beginning at 10:00AM on Thursday before the service begins. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
