Evelyn Tarkington Short

Mrs. Evelyn Tarkington Short, 97, a resident of Hay Long Avenue in Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, May 17, 2002 at Sunbridge Health Care in Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services for Mrs. Short will be conducted Sunday, May 19, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Edd Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery.
The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late Elgin H. and Della Neeley Tarkington. She was the widow of John William ?Bill? Short. She and her husband owned and operated Shorts Grocery on Bluegrass Avenue in Mt. Pleasant for many years. She was a former employee of Sol and Sadie Davis Storage Company in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ.
She is survived by 2 brothers, Richard Mildred Tarkington of Summertown and Owen Beasley Tarkington of Centerville; several nieces and nephews; She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lillian Peery and Jennie Nabozny; 4 brothers, Loyal ?Jack? Tarkington, Hollis Tarkington, Elgin H. Tarkington, Jr., and James Elvin Tarkington.
Pallbearers will be Malcolm Tarkington, Billy Tarkington, Gary Tarkington, Murray Tarkington, and Ronnie Curtis.
